This recession has been devastating for Arizona families. At a time when our communities are most in need, we find that resources are the most scarce and Washington's not helping. But Arizonans have never been the kind of people to wait on others; we believe in personal responsibility and getting the job done.
That's why we launched Community Comes First - a series of service projects to help the Phoenix community now, without waiting for Washington. We held projects all over the district – and volunteers turned out in large numbers to help out. We held a cleanup at the CASS Vista Colina Family Emergency Shelter, cleaning and painting apartments and the children’s center. We teamed up with Keep Phoenix Beautiful to clean up the Palma Park 10th Street wash – clearing trash, broken glass and weeds. Our toy drive for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital was a great success; we donated over 200 toys to children suffering from illness. Look out for our up and coming projects – we would love to have your help. There's no reason political campaigns have to be defined by finger pointing and relentless negative ads, and no reason we can't be the ones to change it.
